Mary Baker Eddy was world famous in the early 20th Century. Her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, was read by thousands, and many were healed just by reading it even without understanding much of it.
After hoping that all Christian faiths would see her book as an explanation of Jesus’ teachings, she realized they found the book a threat to their organization and so she decided to found a new church, based on this book and its spiritual and scientific explanation of the Bible – The Church of Christ, Scientist.
Her life was challenging and fascinating — a life of experimentation and learning, healing and teaching, and always more learning. This month we celebrate Women’s History Month by sharing the long list of awards bestowed on this wonderful woman who helped so many people and whose words continue to help and heal today.
