SUMMARY:In-person event: Finding trust in a changing world
DESCRIPTION:How can we stand on a ground that continues to move?\nWith change being such a constant force in life these days\, what can we confidently depend on? \nHear Christian Science speaker and healer Lesley Ruth Pitts share examples of how a loving\, divine presence — available to all — can bring the kind of reliable stability and support one can depend on. \n___________________________________________ \nAbout Lesley Pitts\n \n“It was during high school that the direction of my life changed\,” explained Lesley. Although I was raised as a Christian Scientist\, it wasn’t until I experienced the joy of helping someone during a youth club outing that I finally understood what it took to love unselfishly. This set me on a new path. I became aware that nursing qualities of willing service\, patience\, gentleness\, and compassion were expressed all around me as I grew up and that I wanted to live them\, too. They’ve woven themselves into every activity I’ve undertaken since then. \nFor example\, I served as a Christian Science nurse for more than 30 years\, mostly in the United Kingdom. This work brought me to the United States to work at the Church’s Boston headquarters in the Christian Science Nursing Activities department. Later\, I was part of the team that established The Mary Baker Eddy Library. My nursing qualities were put to good use in organizing and caring for its collections–shared with the public for the first time.  I served as Executive Manager and President of the Library for six years. \nMary Baker Eddy wrote the groundbreaking book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, which explains Christian Science and how it opens the present applicability and healing message of the Bible. Working at the Library and becoming more familiar with Eddy’s remarkable accomplishments as the founder of a religious movement increased my desire to better practice Christian Science in my own life and help others through my healing practice. \nLack of trust in what used to be reliable sources or entities is common today\, but I believe that trust in God is a stronger foundation to base our lives upon. The unusual career path I’ve pursued points to this trust. Relying upon a deeper relationship with God naturally helps us support each other\, and to better our world. All of us can contribute in this way as we engage in a deeper relationship with our divine source.” \n___________________________________________ \nChild care available. \nPublic transportation: Metro to McLean station (Silver line) to Fairfax Connector bus route 721 to Chain Bridge Road at Evers Drive. \nMore information:  703.356.1265 or www.csmclean.org \n\n	Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.

SUMMARY:Video replay: Learning to Love Your Enemies
DESCRIPTION:Is someone in your life hard to love? Loving others\, including those who may feel like enemies\, can sometimes feel impossible. Hear how Christian Science proves that loving your enemies is not only possible\, it is natural. Come hear how to act with love and not with hate. You’ll hear how love replaces anger\, hurt\, and injustice with freedom\, forgiveness\, and peace. Giulia Nesi Tetreau\, a worldwide Christian healer from Fairfield\, Conn\, will tell you how she helps others on a daily basis through a scientific approach to prayer which brings about positive results. \n_______________________________________________________________________ \nAbout Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n \nFrom Giulia:\n“I’ve always loved people—their life stories\, struggles\, successes.  I regularly meet individuals actively cultivating their spiritual life.  And I love sharing Science and Health with them! \nI see much of my own journey in these seekers.  A few years into my career in the mental health field\, despite having achieved professional success\, I felt empty inside.  I had everything I’d been taught would make me happy but instead was dissatisfied and restless\, yearning for something deeper.  That’s when I was introduced to Christian Science through Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by religious reformer\, Mary Baker Eddy.  In it\, I found a shared sacred space with the author and experienced a profound sense of coming home. \nSome years later\, I was compelled to leave my psychotherapy practice to focus completely on my Christian Science healing practice.  It was an imperative demand from within me—I had to be true to myself. “His word is in my heart like a fire…I am weary of holding it in.”* I needed to practice in the way I understood would be most helpful. \nSince then\, sharing the revolutionary message contained in the pages of Science and Health has been the cornerstone of my life.  I helped oversee the worldwide activity of bringing the book to a wider public audience.  I also managed a special project established to respond to the growing interest from healthcare professionals in learning more about Christian Science. I’ve lectured to the public in a variety of settings and venues\, from prisons to professional healthcare audiences and everything in between. I love all of it! \nWhat a special opportunity Christian Science lectures provide for opening the way for the spiritual seeker in all of us to learn\, grow\, and heal.  I welcome all inquiries!” \nThis event was held in-person and live-streamed on June 15. It will remain available for on-demand video replay through July 13 at csmclean.org. \n______________________________________________________________________ \nMore information: 703.356.1265  \nSponsored by First Church of Christ Scientist\, McLean\, Virginia \n  \nYou are invited!\nThe Christian Science churches in the Washington Metro area provide many inspirational and uplifting events throughout the year.
