SUMMARY:In-person event: Is Jesus' healing work a model for today?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker Alexandre Fischer\, a practitioner of Christian Science healing from Pau\, France\, discusses Christian Science and how it explains the practical application of Jesus’ teachings in daily life\, for anyone\, including through physical healing. He explores examples from the Bible and shares personal testimonies of healing\, all pointing to the fact that God is not far off\, but here and now. We’re all capable of understanding this for ourselves\, of genuinely feeling infinite\, ever-present Love\, which is God\, and helping others do the same.\n_______________________________________________________________________ \nAbout Alexandre Fischer\n \nFrom Alexandre:\n“Practicing litigation law in France and the United States for several years informed Alex’s practice of Christian Science. The law was not just his job\, he says\, it was his passion. To Alex\, being a good lawyer meant exercising the ability to think precisely and feeling a desire to help others get out of trouble. \nDuring his years as a lawyer\, his interest in Christian Science grew. At first\, he was impressed by its remarkable healings and resolutions\, but as he dug deeper\, he found a profound spirituality. He used to believe that religion and spirituality meant accepting a system of beliefs and letting go of discernment and critical thinking. But the more he studied and practiced this spirituality\, the more he found that one’s relationship with God requires critical thinking to understand spiritual concepts. These concepts can in turn be applied to one’s life to bring healing. \nGradually\, he gave up his law practice to become a full-time Christian Science practitioner. Alex still works to help others “get out of trouble\,” that is\, to overcome a sense of limitation and to find freedom. \nAlex discovered that Christian Science is not just about feeling better or fixing problems. It’s about being willing to challenge one’s world view as entirely molecule-based and soulless\, to be open to see the world as spiritually-based and experience how this change in perspective brings inner peace and healing. Christian Science helps us understand our relationship with God\, infinite good\, more clearly. Its teachings help us see Christ Jesus’ message in a non-dogmatic way\, bringing healing\, harmony and freedom to our life. \nThrough healing and lecturing\, Alex works to enable others to find this same freedom.” \n____________________________________________________________________ \nMore information: christiansciencebaltimore.org \n

SUMMARY:In-person event: What Really Matters
DESCRIPTION:When finding solutions seems difficult\, it’s often because we are having trouble knowing what matters. But the right kind of vision (hint: it’s spiritual) allows us to discern what is actually important. At this free talk\, Christian Science healer Nicole Virgil will explain how Christian Science reveals what is essential\, brings solutions\, and enables us to live God-impelled lives that bless our families and communities. \n\n \n\n\nAbout Nicole Virgil\n\n \n\nFrom Nicole:\n“My father was a freelance church organist\, and my parents attended services at almost every different Christian church around New England. Mom was constantly wanting to understand how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for. As a result\, I had a wonderful upbringing in Christian Science\, which cultivated within me a deep desire for an intimate relationship with God. \nGrowing up\, I studied Christian Science with my mom and music with my dad\, and found that both studies were helpful to each other. Christian Science healed performance anxiety\, while learning music honed the skills I needed for spiritual practice — skills such as intuition\, listening\, patience\, and diligence. \nThroughout my life\, Christian Science and music have always overlapped: After studying opera at music school\, I took my one-woman opera review program (That Can’t Be Opera!) on the road\, educating audiences about opera by singing Mozart\, Puccini\, and Menotti. \nChristian Science guided me through this entrepreneurial endeavor\, just as it led me to start soloing in churches as a teenager (which is something I still love to do!) — and I eventually married\, started a family with my husband\, and entered the public practice of Christian Science so that I can share the deep and precious truths of the Bible’s healing messages for our daily lives. \nToday I enjoy raising children\, gardening\, soloing in church\, and witnessing the healing effect of Christian Science in all things.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nParking: Free parking is available in the church lot and on the street. Handicap access is available from the street-level entrance around the drive on the far side of the church — located across the street from the Johns Hopkins University Athletic Field.\nMore information: 410.467.7974 or christiansciencebaltimore@gmail.com \n\n\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist Baltimore \nSee below for location address and directions.

SUMMARY:In-person event: The Science of God and its power to transform us
DESCRIPTION:Misconceptions about ourselves and the world we live in are often corrected by advances in science which bring paradigm shifts to our ways of thinking and understanding existence — like discovering that the earth revolves around the sun\, rather than the other way around.\n \n\nIn this free talk\, Nikki O’Hagan\, a practitioner of Christian Science healing from County Kildare\, Ireland\, notes that the current matter-based scientific model leaves many questions unanswered and has some thinkers and scientists questioning if it is still the right model.\n \n\nA shift in thought begins with questions such as: How does science relate to God? Is there a science that explains God? Nikki will address these questions and show how the Science of God explains Jesus’ healings and teachings\, makes God knowable and understandable\, and provides humanity with a safe and reliable means for caring for ourselves and each other.\n \n\n \nAbout Nikki O’Hagan\n\n \n\nFrom Nikki:\n\n “My father was a freelance church organist\, and my parents attended services at almost every different Christian church around New England. Mom was constantly wanting to understand how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for. If you require elevator access\, please park and enter at the entrance on the south side of the church. \nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Baltimore\, Maryland \nSee below for location address and directions.

SUMMARY:In-person event: Finding where God is seen and felt — what's church got to do with it?
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever thought about God as goodness? And God’s creation\, including you and everyone else\, as a natural extension of that goodness? According to Emra Farkas\, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing from Santa Fe\, New Mexico\, there is a direct connection between this foundational way of viewing the world and the idea of church. In this free talk\, she discusses the role of church — not just as a building or place\, but as a new kind of thinking that reveals God’s goodness for you and everyone around you.

SUMMARY:In-person event: Be Set Free
DESCRIPTION:Whatever seems to stand between us and the full range of purposeful activity that we would like to have in our lives\, the real impediment is not knowing how or where to access our God-given liberty from those things which make us feel vulnerable or victimize or overwhelmed or depressed or anxious. \nSpeaker Nicole Virgil\, a practitioner of Christian Science healing\, will examine liberty  from a Biblical perspective and will include examples of how real people today find their freedom from all kinds of physical\, emotional\, and circumstantial restrictions that are clearly beyond their control so that they may Be Set Free! \n_______________________________________________________________________ \nAbout Nicole Virgil\n \nFrom Nicole:\n“My father was a free-lance church organist\, and my parents attended services at almost every different Christian church around New England. Mom was constantly wanting to understand how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for.
