SUMMARY:In-person event: Healing the Divide — How spiritual perception brings healing
DESCRIPTION:This talk is for people who feel that they are stuck in a limited\, material world\, with limited prospects\, limited resources\, and limited health. In contrast to those feelings of limitation\, we are children of God and God is spiritual\, limitless. Speaker Alexandre Fischer\, a practitioner of Christian Science healing from Pau\, France\, explains that by understanding more clearly our relationship with God\, infinite good\, we can learn to drop feelings of limitation\, end fear\, and see a way forward. \n_______________________________________________________________________ \nAbout Alexandre Fischer\n \nFrom Alexandre:\n“Practicing litigation law in France and the United States for several years informed Alex’s practice of Christian Science. The law was not just his job\, he says\, it was his passion. To Alex\, being a good lawyer meant exercising the ability to think precisely and feeling a desire to help others get out of trouble. \nDuring his years as a lawyer\, his interest in Christian Science grew. At first\, he was impressed by its remarkable healings and resolutions\, but as he dug deeper\, he found a profound spirituality. He used to believe that religion and spirituality meant accepting a system of beliefs and letting go of discernment and critical thinking. But the more he studied and practiced this spirituality\, the more he found that one’s relationship with God requires critical thinking to understand spiritual concepts. These concepts can in turn be applied to one’s life to bring healing. \nGradually\, he gave up his law practice to become a full-time Christian Science practitioner. Alex still works to help others “get out of trouble\,” that is\, to overcome a sense of limitation and to find freedom. \nAlex discovered that Christian Science is not just about feeling better or fixing problems. It’s about being willing to challenge one’s world view as entirely molecule-based and soulless\, to be open to see the world as spiritually-based and experience how this change in perspective brings inner peace and healing. Christian Science helps us understand our relationship with God\, infinite good\, more clearly. DESCRIPTION:What is our worth? Or our value? What makes us feel really needed in this world? How do we find answers to these questions? \nJames Shepherd\, a practitioner of Christian Science healing from Eugene\, Oregon\, will present a free talk based on the understanding of God through Christian Science\, that will show how this understanding can give us direction in life and help us to realize our God-given purpose\, as well as how to find freedom from pain\, hatred\, loneliness\, addiction\, mental or physical illness. \n_______________________________________________________________________ \nAbout James Shepherd\n \nFrom James:\n“I’ve seen the healing effects of God’s love since I was a youngster\, romping through the woods around our home with my three brothers. We had our share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. We didn’t get sick often\, but when we did\, we relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school our family moved to a ranch where we had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way I could serve others. So I left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. That was 30 years ago\, and I still love this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, I’ve enjoyed being active in many offices in my local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and have worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. I’ve also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When my four children were little\, I coached or participated in their sports programs. I’ve also found other ways to help in my community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nI love spending time with my family and I enjoy doing almost anything outdoors\, from backpacking to doing a little work on the family ranch.
