What is The Church of Christ, Scientist?

The Church of Christ, Scientist, consists of The Christian Science Center in Boston, Massachusetts, including the Mother Church, a headquarters, The Christian Science Monitor and other publications; and about 2,000 branch churches in 80 countries. It is designed to make Christian Science available and accessible to everyone.

Instead of a sermon delivered by a minister, Sunday services consist of readings from the Bible and related passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. These weekly Bible lessons are studied throughout the preceding week and are read as the "sermon" at Sunday services by two lay members. You are welcome to attend our services.

Our Sunday Schools welcome children under the age of twenty. We build character with spiritual values and love. Sunday School classes teach young people spiritual truths and how to meet the challenges and temptations that young people face. Our churches also provide care for infants and small children.

At Wednesday services, in addition to readings from the Bible and Science and Health, people share experiences and tell how they have been healed through prayer.

View our directory of local churches to get the location and times of a service in the Washington Metro area, or view our schedule for local talks, workshops, and broadcasts. Or to locate church services in other areas, search an on-line worldwide directory.
