Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask of Him. —Christ Jesus
Is spiritual healing possible through prayer?
Spiritual healing was a given in early Christianity. Jesus taught and expected his followers to heal. Peter, James, and John did outstanding healing work, as did his disciples. So did Paul and thousands of early Christians for approximately three hundred years.
Is spiritual healing still possible today? Christian Scientists point to a century of carefully documented healings by spiritual means alone. There are one hundred pages of testimonies at the end of Science and Health. You can also read contemporary testimonies in the Christian Science Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal, available at any Christian Science Reading Room. Mrs. Eddy explains,
The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural. They are the sign of Immanuel, or 'God with us,' -- a divine influence ever present in human consciousness and repeating itself, coming now as was promised aforetime,
To preach deliverance to the captives [of sense],
And recovering of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty them that are bruised.
Today, thousands are exploring their spiritual relationship with an all-loving Father-Mother God through studying the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Understanding this relationship is both uplifting and practical. Even one moment of insight can change your point of view. And when your view changes, so does your life. God doesn't send sin and sickness, so you don't have to live with them.
If you would like to learn more about the possibility of experiencing healing in your life, you may want to speak with a professional Christian Science practitioner. You'll find the names and phone numbers of practitioners listed in a worldwide directory, located at the back of each issue of the monthly magazine, The Christian Science Journal. Stop by any Christian Science Reading Room for the latest issue.
